SMK Convent Taiping, Perak emerged as the champion of Teens In Environment Corporation (TiEC) Competition 2008
Students in Free Enterprise Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (SIFE UTP) had successfully organized Teens in Environmental Corporation Competition 2008 on 5th April 2008.
Among the objectives of the program are :
* To instill the habit of conserving the environment
* To generate the best practical idea in conserving the environment
* To develop entrepreneurship skills and interests among the secondary school students
* To expose them on the importance of business to the community
* To introduce them the concept of SIFE
The participants are from secondary schools students around Perak. There were 7 schools that have participated in TiEC 2008 which are:-
1) SMK Convent Taiping
2) SMK Convent Ipoh
3) MRSM Taiping
4) MRSM Pasir Salak
5) SMK Raja Permaisuri Bainun
6) SMK Dato’ Abdul Rahman Yaakub
7) SMK Clifford
There were two leagues running during the preliminary rounds. Fortunately, SMK Convent Taiping and SMK Dato’ Abdul Rahman Yaakub had qualified for the final round of presentations. The judges unanimously had agreed to choose SMK Convent Taiping as the winner since this school had shown great working and marketing strategies to market their recyclable product. The closing ceremony was officiated by Tuan Hj Mohamed Noor Rosli Baharom, Director of Students Support Services.
TiEC Competition 2008 received positive feedback and comments from Tuan Hj Mohamed Noor Rosli Baharom, teachers and students. SIFE UTP would like to thank UTP , Mr Amzairi Amar and the sponsors Scomi Group Berhad, Art Square Group (Gempak Starz) and Pustaka Wira Sdn Bhd for the support for this competition.
